Manual Install Instructions for SMF

Description:

I keep receiving requests to add more pages to my popular The Rules modification. I understand people well enough to know that no matter how many pages are added, somebody will still ask me to add just one more. This modification is especially for you people! Not only does it have a full dozen pages, but it even has one more page just for those who always want just one more! ;)

A baker's dozen defined: It's widely believed that this phrase originated from the practice of medieval English bakers giving an extra loaf when selling a dozen in order to avoid being penalized for selling short weight. This is an attractive story and, unlike many that inhabit the folk memory, it appears to be substantially true.

Features

  • Adds a new "Pages" tab to SMF's top menu to provide access to 1 to 13 fully customizable pages. The tab label name can be customized to suit your preferences or to aid in internationalization. Each page can be individually enabled/disabled via a configuration check box. The titles of all pages are customizable. Page contents can be written using any mixture of plain text, BBCode and HTML.
Configuration

The Dozen Pages configuration settings are located in Admin -> Configuration -> Modifications -> Dozen Pages (SMF 2.x), or in Admin -> Configuration -> Features and Options -> Dozen Pages (SMF 1.x). The following settings are provided:

Access & tab label configuration:
  • Enable guest access: Enable to allow guests to access your pages. Defaults to no guest access.Enable member access: Enable to allow members to access your pages. Defaults to no member access. Dozen Pages tab label: Enter the name of your label here. Defaults to "Pages."
For each page:
  • Page enable: Enable to allow display of this page. Disable to hide it. Defaults to hiddenPage title: Whatever title you like. Defaults to "Page #" where # is 1 to 13.Page contents: Whatever you want to show on your page including plain text, BBCodes and HTML.
Tip: You can compose and edit your page text by making a post somewhere, perhaps in your forum's mod/admin board. Edit the post using your WYSIWYG editor until you're satisfied with it, then open your post using the quick editor and cut 'n paste the contents into your Dozen Pages configuration.

Note: Use [html] and [/html] BBCodes to enclose HTML code.

Important note: At least one of either "enable guest access" or "enable member access" must be enabled or nobody will be able to see the tab and nobody will be able to use your pages.
