This mod adds the ability to promote and demote pages so that they are flagged as 'news'. Topics flagged as news will be prefixed with [News] (you can change the prefix in the admin center).
I created this mod so that I could flag certain topics as news and display those topics on an external section of my website. A similar system is in place at AusGamers.
I don't expect this mod to be useful to very many people but since I needed it for one of my websites I figured I would make it public in case someone else needs this functionality.
If there is anything you would like changed about this mod to suit your needs then please tell me and I will see what I can do if I find some time.
